Unlocking the Secret to Soft, Smooth Lips: The Power of Lip Scrubs by Treat Beauty

"Never leave the house without soft lips."

In the pursuit of kissably soft lips, there's one skincare essential that often gets overlooked: the lip scrub. At Treat Beauty, we believe that exfoliating your lips is just as important as exfoliating the rest of your skin. Join us as we delve into the world of lip scrubs, explore their benefits, and discover how our lip scrubs can transform your lip care routine.

What is a Lip Scrub?

A lip scrub is a skincare product designed to gently exfoliate and remove dead skin cells from the lips, leaving them soft, smooth, and supple. Typically made with sugar or salt particles suspended in a nourishing base, lip scrubs help to slough away dry, flaky skin, revealing the fresh, healthy skin beneath.

Why You Should Use a Lip Scrub:

  1. Smooths and Softens: Regular exfoliation with a lip scrub helps to smooth and soften your lips, making them more receptive to moisturizing treatments like lip balm or lip gloss.

  2. Prevents Chapping: By removing dead skin cells and promoting cell turnover, lip scrubs can help prevent dryness and chapping, keeping your lips hydrated and comfortable.

  3. Enhances Lip Color: Exfoliating your lips with a scrub can improve the appearance of lip color, allowing it to glide on more evenly and last longer.

  4. Boosts Lip Care Efficacy: Using a lip scrub before applying lip products allows for better absorption and effectiveness of moisturizing ingredients, ensuring maximum hydration and protection.

How to Use a Lip Scrub:

  1. Start with Clean Lips: Begin by cleansing your lips with a gentle lip scrub to remove any makeup or debris.

  2. Apply the Scrub: Take a small amount of the lip scrub and gently massage it onto your lips using circular motions or from the lip balm tube. Be sure to focus on any areas of dryness or flakiness and your entire lip.

  3. Rinse Thoroughly: After exfoliating, rinse your lips thoroughly with warm water, wipe away any excess scrub with a damp cloth or lick the sugar scrubs off of your lips for a tasty Treat.

  4. Follow Up with Lip Balm: Finish by applying a nourishing lip balm to hydrate and protect your freshly exfoliated lips.

When You Should Use a Lip Scrub:

  1. Prep for Lip Products: Before applying lipstick, lip gloss, or any other lip product, using a lip scrub can create a smooth canvas for better application and longer wear.

  2. Seasonal Transitions: During seasonal changes, especially in colder months, lips tend to become drier and more prone to flakiness. Incorporating a lip scrub into your routine can help combat dryness and maintain soft, smooth lips.

  3. After Prolonged Lipstick Wear: If you've been wearing lipstick for an extended period, especially matte or long-wearing formulas, your lips may benefit from a gentle exfoliation to remove any buildup and refresh the skin's surface.

  4. As Needed: Listen to your lips! If you notice dryness, flakiness, or rough texture, it's a sign that your lips could benefit from a little extra TLC. Reach for a lip scrub as needed to keep your lips looking and feeling their best.

Follow Up with Lip Balm:

After exfoliating your lips with a lip scrub, it's essential to follow up with a nourishing lip balm to lock in moisture and provide additional hydration and protection. Here's why:

  1. Hydration Boost: Exfoliation can temporarily strip away some of the natural oils from your lips, leaving them more susceptible to dryness. Applying a lip balm immediately afterward helps to replenish moisture and restore the skin's barrier function, keeping your lips soft and supple.

  2. Seals in Moisture: Lip balms create a protective barrier over the lips, sealing in the benefits of the exfoliation and preventing moisture loss. This helps to maintain the results of the lip scrub and prolong the smooth, hydrated feeling of your lips.

  3. Enhances Comfort: Exfoliating your lips can sometimes leave them feeling slightly sensitive or tender. Applying a soothing lip balm helps to calm any irritation and provides a comforting layer of hydration, ensuring your lips feel comfortable and cared for.

  4. Prepares for Lip Products: Using a lip balm after exfoliation creates a smooth, hydrated base for applying lipstick, lip gloss, or other lip products. It allows for better adherence and smoother application, enhancing the overall look and feel of your lips.

I just ordered lemon birthday cake and candy gum drop. Excited to try them. However, I have never tried a lipscrub. How often would I use it? Daily or a few times a week?

I love 💕 the lip balms my favorites are banana cream, star fruit, strawberry, pumpkin spice and magic mermaid! 🧜‍♀️ they all smell amazing! 🤩

I use the lip scrub every night before bedtime. It’s all pretty much a Treat Beauty ritual. Lip scrub applied & then safe enough to lick off & eat ☺️ Peppermint lip balm, & then my Birthday cake hand cream applied to my hands & elbows. All the scents are super soothing & I’m off bed! 🛏️💕

My first order should be in my mailbox today. I bought the mermaid iridescent one! I’m excited & now can’t wait to try the lip scrub next.

Before using the lip scrub I take a very warm wash cloth and leave it on my lips for about 5 minutes Then the scrub really works and then using any Treat balm afterwards is even better!
